Donalds, South Carolina’s born and raised, Casey Ashley is the first pro- sportsman to join Buddy Lee Attractions ’ roster. At age 26, Ashley is one of the youngest pro-fishermen to compete with top ranking anglers; Kevin VanDam, Tommy Biffle, Mike Iaconelli, Skeet Reese, Gerald Swindle, Denny Brauer, Aaron Martins, Gary Kline, and Paul Elias in the Bass Masters Elite Series. Fishing is his passion, and music has always been his hobby; however, he has recently been rocking the boat with his current single “Fisherman” written by Rodney Clawson for Outdoor Music’s compilation album. “I have wanted to integrate both music and sports on our roster for awhile. Donalds, SC – Almost three full years into his Elite Series career, on the verge of qualifying for his third consecutive Bassmaster Classic, Casey Ashley is just getting comfortable in his position in the upper echelon of tour-level pros.
Asked whether the older and more experienced pros take him lightly, all he’ll say is the following: “I don’t think I’m looked at as a pushover.”

Ashley is by far the youngest member of this group, but he hasn’t shown any willingness to be intimidated. His AOY standing has improved each year he’s been on tour, from 32nd in his rookie season to 26th last year, all the way up to 19th right now. He doesn’t yet know what it’s like to miss a Classic. Thursday, Casey Ashley of South Carolina hit a submerged floating log while heading back to Lake Guntersville State Park. The collision took the lower unit off Ashley's outboard, but Arkansas pro Mike Wurm happened by a few minutes later, saw that Ashley was in trouble and stopped to help. Ashley transferred his Marshal and his catch to Wurm's boat and made it back to the landing with three minutes to spare. Complete Story |

Casey Ashley made a huge move on the final day to finish 2nd. He fished a mix of a jerkbait and jig.
He had a stretch of jerkbait water that accounted for all of his day-1 weigh-fish. During the day-2 cancellation the area muddied significantly, so he needed to use a jig there on day 3 when competition resumed. The water had cleared enough overnight, however, that the jerkbait was back on for the final day. Complete Story |

Casey Ashley, who won the $100,000 top prize when BASS visited Smith Mountain Lake in June of 2007, couldn't recapture that same magic Thursday. He fell one fish short of his limit for 12-11 and is currently just inside the top 50 cut at 49th.
Despite his prior success here, Ashley didn't have any spectator boats following him. No one had their eyes on him, and if he had his way he wouldn't have had to depend on his eyes, either. It's common knowledge that most of the field is depending on a sight fishing bite. Accordingly, he said that he'd rather be here "any time but now." Complete Story |

Ashley made the biggest upward move of the day moving from 15th to second with a Sunday five-fish limit of 19-11, which was the Sunday's heaviest bag. He was using two different sized jerk baits and a jig throughout the event. It paid off for Ashley, who fell short of capturing his second Bassmaster Elite Series title.
The third-year Elite angler was fishing a variety of edges and bluffs in 6 to 12 feet of water. He was able to get a limit by 8:30 a.m. CT Sunday. Complete Story |
